Kalan + Josh: Destination Newlywed Portraits at Palo Duro Canyon State Park

January 16, 2018

You guys know me: traveling gives me life. When I have the opportunity to jump on a plane or go on a road trip to a new, epic location, I pretty much always say yes. Well… January is relatively slow for me, and one of my resolutions is to travel more in 2018, especially for work. I LOVE living in Fort Worth, but sometimes the scenery can be a bit lacking for me… I wanted some natural DRAMA! Where better to go than out to the panhandle for Texas’ own “Grand” Canyon? Kalan and Josh had just been married a couple weeks previous to our shoot, so we got them all dolled up again and went hiking through some of the prettiest places I’ve ever seen. It didn’t really feel like we were still in Texas!

And y’all, I have to give huge props to my gorgeous couple. Kalan hiked almost 4 miles in that huge tulle skirt! And Josh is terribly afraid of heights, but was willing to face his fears and go out on a ledge (literally) for a few epic shots. I lovelovelove when my clients are as adventurous as I am and will do anything for a shot. K+J, if you’re reading this, high five!

How perfect does her peach skirt go with the red rocks and dirt? This was exactly the style I had in my mind when I planned this session. HUGE thank you to Justine of Justine’s Flowers here in Fort Worth for the GORGEOUS bouquet!

Now that you’ve seen this, don’t you want to go on an adventure? I’m always down for an adventure. I’m currently hosting a Destination Wedding giveaway where one lucky couple will win FREE wedding coverage anywhere in the world! Already married? No problem. Anniversary sessions or “Just Because” sessions are totally a thing. Want to go somewhere other than Texas? Perfect. Marc and I just booked our trip to New York City this August! Let’s make something amazing happen.
